First Student Employees Recognized at NSTA Conference for Student Transportation Accomplishments

Four First Student employees received awards during the NSTA Awards Reception & Dinner held Tuesday night during the association’s annual convention held this year in Milwaukee.

The employees were honored for their work and dedication to the student transportation industry. Percy Abbott, First Student’s regional safety manager, became the 18th recipient of NSTA’s Distinguished Service Award in recognition of special contributions made to the business of contracting student transportation services.

Three First Student representatives won the NSTA Golden Merit Award for excellence in service, safety and community responsibility. They are: Dona Beauchea, First Student’s corporate special needs, operational safety and training manager; Phil O’Donnell, area general manager; and Liz Sanchez, vice president of operations.

Abbott is also a previous Golden Merit Award recipient.

The NSTA awards event was sponsored by school bus manufacturer Thomas Built Buses. Additional award winners will be announced as they are released.
