Lion Bus Recalls More Than 300 Buses to Correct Right-Side Mirror

The Canadian school bus manufacturer announced a recall for some of its new buses to repair the right-side mirror position.

The NHTSA recall affects approximately 360 2013-1014 model-year school buses, but it doesn’t specify the manufacturing timeframe of the affected buses. Lion Bus said the right side mirror couldn’t be positioned to have the complete right side of the vehicle in view. This could result in drivers not being able to see people or objects along the right side of the vehicle, increasing the risk of personal injury or a crash.

Additionally, the decal that explains the use of the cross view mirrors is missing from these buses. As a result, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, “Rearview Mirrors.”

Lion Bus was expected to notify owners and Lion Bus service centers beginning last month to correct the mirrors and bring these buses into compliance, free of charge.

Owners may contact Lion Bus at (450) 432-5466. Lion Bus’ recall number is C20130902.
