Two officials with the Oman goverment as well as two local police officers and paid a U.S. government-sponsored visit to the Cincinnati headquarters of FirstGroup America last week to discuss transportation best practices for road safety, management and hiring.
The delegation met with FirstGroup America representatives on June 22 as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program that is organized by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The visit was arranged by the Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council, a member of the National Council for International Visitors.
“As an industry leader in transportation, we were honored to share our insight with the delegation from Oman,” said Jeff Brooks, head of safety services for FirstGroup America. “Our company has been a pioneer when it comes to developing, designing, and implementing safety training and technology.”
A company spokeswoman said that state department conditions for the visit prohibit any specific comment on the types of questions the delegation had.
“However, I can tell you they are researching ways to reduce accidents and improve strategies when it comes to road safety,” she added.
FirstGroup America operates First Student, the largest private school bus contractor operating in North America, as well as First Transit, Greyhound and First Services vehicle maintenance.
