Watch: Videos Highlight School Bus Drivers in the Sunshine State

Orange Country Public Schools in Florida hosted the kick-off event for the 13th annual Love the Bus celebrations, promoted by the American School Bus Council (ASBC). But the district in Orlando wasn’t the only one in the state to recognize its drivers and the impacts that yellow school buses make on student safety.

The School District of Palm Beach County, the fifth-largest school district in Florida and 10th largest in the U.S., took advantage of the February theme to recognize the district’s longest-serving school bus driver. Myron White has been driving a school bus for the past 36 years, and his story was highlighted in a video produced by the district, which is located about 90 miles northwest of Miami.

The video recognizes his motivational attitude as well as the positive first impressions he makes with thousands of students. District officials surprise White in the video with balloons and goodies to reward him for his continued dedication to the students.

The transportation staff at Polk County School Schools in Florida, located 50 miles east of Tampa, also made a video that highlights the various job responsibilities throughout the entire transportation department. Mechanics, school bus monitors and school bus drivers are featured discussing their job responsibilities and why they love what they do.
