David Linn, the district attorney of Madera County started an investigation Thursday to learn whether certain victims were paid to support the parole of the Chowchilla school bus kidnappers, reported the Fresno Bee.
The investiation was reportedly spurred by allegations from other victims. Linn said he wants to know why victims who previously did not support the release of the kidnappers eventually changed their positions.
“It appeared to me that some people who had previously been opposed to letting Mr. Woods out of state prison had now all of a sudden become in favor of letting Mr. Woods out of state prison,” Linn said. “I just suspect that some form of negotiations may be going on.”
