Miraculously Nobody Killed in Latest N.J. School Bus Crash

Somehow no passengers were killed over the weekend when a school bus overturned in East Brunswick in rush-hour traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike, according to news reports.

Miraculously, 42 students and adults were onboard and injured during the Aug. 11 crash, but none were killed or seriously hurt, police officials announced.

“The bus, which flipped at mile-marker 79.9 around 5:25 p.m. on the northbound side, was returning to Newark after a day at the Mayor’s Family Reunion Picnic in Black Bear Lake Camp in Millstone, according to city officials,” said patch.com.

Newark Mayor Baraka stated at a Saturday night news conference that “early reports that the accident was caused by a hit and run involving a car were incorrect,” reported patch.com.

NBC4 Bay Area reported that a witness said she “saw the bus flip over one or two times from the middle lane and land in the left lane.” Drivers immediately “stopped their cars and ran toward the bus to help after it flipped,” she said.
