Ohio School Bus Inspections to Change

The Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers will no longer perform school bus inspections, reported ABC 22

Instead, a smaller staff of trained civilian motor vehicle inspector and motor carrier enforcement inspectors and motor carrier enforcement inspectors will inspect school buses throughout the state.

Some expressed concern with this change.

“It is really not a good change. It was a lot more responsibility on district as the inspections will not be as thorough as in the past.” Vandalia Butler Schools said in a statement.

But others were optimistic.

“The civilian inspectors have been working with the troopers and doing a very good job, and when they hire new ones they will be well-trained.” said Centerville City Schools.
