The Knoxville News Sentinal reports that a North Knoxville resident was angry after a home security camera revealed the culprit who destroyed her mailbox and fled the scene turned out to be a school bus driver.
And then the same bus back on her street later that afternoon.
“The school bus came down the road flying, and he was on the wrong side of the road,” said the resident. “I jumped in my car and followed him up to school. I was determined to get to the bottom of it.”
The homeowner said she confronted the driver of the special-needs school bus once he reached Belle Morris Elementary School. The driver denied being involved in the hit-and-run, she said.
One student, a preschooler, was onboard at the time of the incident, Tindell said. The child was not hurt.
Scott Hurst has been suspended from the school district’s roster of eligible drivers pending an investigation by the Knoxville Police Department. He was cited on charges of failure to exercise due care and failure to avoid a crashd.
