Texas Transporter Receives NAPT Special Needs Certification

Karen Holstein of Klein (Texas) Independent School District recently became the 17th person nationwide to complete the NAPT Special Needs Transportation (SNT) Training Program.

Holstein, a special education coordinator, took the six required and two elective courses at events held throughout Texas. The curriculum included a school bus roadeo and a trade show of transportation products and services. An NAPT representative said the SNT syllabus was been specifically designed to increase an individual’s specific knowledge about transporting students with disabilities.

“We are very proud of Karen. She invests everything she has into special education transportation,” added Steve Williams, director of transportation at Klein ISD. “Her priorities are to make sure the students are safe and very well taken care of when they are with us. She knows all of the students who ride our special ed buses and their families as well.  This makes for a great working relationship between our transportation department and our community.”

Williams added that Holstein loves her job, “and it reflects with everyone she comes into contact with.”
