Transfinder Corp., which produces school bus routing and logistics software for more than 1,700 school districts in North America and the Caribbean, has opened its first international office in Shanghai, China.
Transfinder President and CEO Antonio Civitella explained that the Shanghai office represents an effort to discover top-tier programming talent for work on both future and current products from the company as it expands into new markets.
“For the first time in 27 years, Transfinder is in three time zones and is truly a 24/7 international operation. The sun always shines on Transfinder, from Schenectady to Shanghai,” he said.
The newly launched location is in a city that has a population of 24 million. So far, Transfinder has hired eight programmers, and six more are projected to join the payroll in the next three months.
The China office represents the second satellite location Transfinder has opened this year, the first one being in Austin, Texas.
Civitella reported that the company still remains committed to expanding its home base in Schenectady, New York, employing a number of strategies to cultivate the best and brightest college graduates.
“We have to do whatever it takes to bring the best talent in-house so we can develop the products our clients are craving. We cannot allow a skills gap to slow our growth,” Civitella said.
