$250,000 Worth of Crack Found in Trash Pile Near NC School Bus Stop

WNCN.com reported that Catawba County Sheriff Investigators are trying to find out who stashed more than five pounds of crack cocaine and thousands of dollars in a trash pile near a Claremont, North Carolina, bus stop.

The drugs, valued up to $250,000 on the street, were discovered after a tip was called in to narcotics officers.

Deputies hiked to trash pile on Friday afternoon, “and when we moved an old couch off the top of the pile, a black trash bag was underneath it,” said Captain Jason Reid.

Inside the bag is where deputies found the crack cocaine, $2,600 in cash, scales and other items. So far, no arrests have been made, but fingerprints found on the bags of crack and some DNA will be analyzed. Investigators believe the person responsible will be identified.

The trash pile is near railroad tracks and just a couple of hundred yards from a school bus stop on Old Catawba Road.
