In Dartmouth, Massachusetts, an oncoming vehicle struck a wild deer and the impact launched the animal into the windshield of a school bus, reported KOAT Action News.
The driver’s side of the front windshield was completely smashed out in the incident last week by the 200-pound animal. The deer’s head ended up on the driver’s lap, with the dangerous antlers flailing around because the animal was still alive, but it soon expired at the scene, the report noted.
The school bus driver, Mark Jardin, was able to safely secure the bus and successfully evacuate all 34 kids. The segment reported he was worried the injured animal would break free.
Five students were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, including cuts from shattered glass. Jardin suffered a broken wrist and several broken fingers.
