Massachusetts School District Employee is 15th to Obtain Special Needs Transportation Endorsement

Joy E. Winnie, an employee of Northampton (Mass.) Public Schools, recently completed the National Association for Pupil Transportation Special Needs Transportation (SNT) training program, making her the 15th person in the nation to achieve this certification.

Winnie took the SNT courses at the NAPT Summit conference in October in Cincinnati, the Edupro Group National Conference and Exhibition on Transporting Children with Disabilities & Preschoolers, and at the New York Association for Pupil Transportation Summer Conference.

Established last year, the SNT program requires NAPT members to complete six courses on transporting students with special needs, including a class on how to develop and produce a school bus roadeo event as well as a trade show project. Student transporters may also supplement the learning by taking two elective courses listed in the NAPT PDS.
