Bus Driver Investigated for Vaping Inside School Bus

A Washington state bus driver is under investigation after students reported smelling vapor from an e-cigarette while on the bus, reported KIRO 7.

A student said that for the last three weeks, there has been a “fog” when he boards the bus. The student reportedly asked where all the smoke was coming from, and the driver said it was from the bus heater.

The child’s parent complained and said the district told her it was not responsible for the actions of drivers and that it did not have the staff to monitor each and every one of them.

However, the school district said it is investigating the matter.

“I want to emphasize that now that it has been brought to our attention, we are going to—as we already are, taking this very seriously,” said Debbie Joyce Jakala of the Edmonds School District. “We will look into each step to get to the bottom of what happened.”
