Pepper Spray Incident on Connecticut School Bus Sends Children to Hospital

Some students were taken to the hospital after a Hartford (Connecticut) Public Schools bus was pepper-sprayed, the Hartford Courant reported.

The pepper spray was dispersed on Thursday while students were reportedly playing around. While there was reportedly no malicious intent, the student with the pepper spray may be disciplined.

Students’ throats were reportedly irritated, and some were coughing and choking. Several of the students also complained of breathing problems.

Following the incident, the bus driver pulled the vehicle over and evacuated the students. Paramedics evaluated students on-scene and transported three by ambulance to a local hospital for observation. A parent drove another student to the hospital.
