The School Bus Safety Alliance, an organization in Ohio that campaigns for seat belts in school buses, stepped it up a notch by designing a float in the Avon Lake Memorial Day Parade, reported Cleveland.com.
This was the first time the group was represented in a parade. The float featured a spring king and queen, banners, and a school bus seat that was equipped with lap-shoulder seat belts, according to the post.
The float was described as a pick-up truck that was equipped with a “Safeguard” bench seat assembly that included lap-shoulder seat belts. It was attached to the bed of the truck, with one volunteer strapped in. Yellow banners were attached to each side of the truck, which had a black outline of a school bus, and was emblazoned with the phrase “School Bus Seat Belts Save Lives.”
The purpose of the float was to honor fallen heroes, and demonstrate what a fully equipped seat assembly looks like, which was reportedly installed in the two test buses that were recently purchased by the Avon Lake School District in Ohio.
