A school bus driver in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is spending the summer helping hungry children by driving to different neighborhoods and delivering school meals, reported Spectrum News.
According to the news report, Melani Edison, a school bus driver for 20 years, is in charge of the School Bus Cafe. The purpose of the School Bus Cafe is to distribute meals each day throughout the week for students in need.
The School Bus Cafe is now part of Warren County Public School’s nutrition program, which launched this year with the goal of providing nutritious meals to children during the summer months. As part of the program, the district introduced drive-through food drives for the first time.
Edison told local news reporters that she’s been around transportation for a long time. Her passion for helping children has led her to spend almost ten years bagging and delivering food to them throughout June and July.
The School Bus Cafe stops at Lee Pointe from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Bryant Way from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and Blue Lake from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
